Cold Laser Therapy Mechanisms:

LASER light, in the right wavelengths, penetrates into the body eliciting photochemical and photo-biological responses.  One of these effects takes place within the mitochondria; the organelle (part of the cell) responsible for making ATP.  When light is absorbed it causes a build-up of single oxygen molecules that accelerate the formation of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the cells’ energy and fuel source, to 10 times the average rate.  Increased ATP production leads to a secondary cascade or reactions: increasing immune response, accelerating the healing process and reducing pain.

The result is a dramatic decrease in inflammation along with an improved healing speed of damaged skin, bone, muscle, ligament, nerves, and cartilage.

Our Apollo Laser is one of the strongest Class IIIB Lasers available that promises deep penetration and short treatment times.

Update:  We also now have the Avant LZ30Z laser system to add to our tool set!  This new laser reflects the latest research and development in photobiomodulation.  The added  colors (wavelength) and pulsed versus continuous wave capabilities opens up a whole new dimension in healing the body.

The word LASER is the name of a device that projects coherent radiation in the visible, ultra-violet, or infra-red part of the electro-magnetic spectrum. It produces photons that are both monochromatic and in-phase.  To put it simply, it produces light of one specific color that doesn't scatter.  The unique properties of coherence and monochromaticity are the key to why laser light is so effective compared to other kinds of light in pain reduction and healing. Cold laser therapy, also known as photo-biomodulation and low-level laser therapy, involves the application of low power laser light to injuries and lesions to speed healing and reduce pain. It is used to increase the speed, quality and strength of tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and give pain relief.Laser therapy has been found to offer superior healing and pain relieving effects compared to other electrotherapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, especially in chronic problems and in the early stages of acute injuries. Laser therapy is a complete system of treating muscle, tendon, ligament, connective tissue, bone, nerve, and dermal tissues in a non-invasive, drug-free modality.    This whole process of using light to speed healing is called Photobiomodulation.  Recent research suggests that while lasers are the most efficient and powerful way to deliver light to heal tissue, other light sources can also play a role in healing for some situations.
